About Orthodontics

Although the Director is a general practitioner, he has actually been working and studying orthodontic treatment since the beginning of his practice. The image of orthodontic treatment, from the patient’s perspective, may be thought of as being for children or young women who are trying to look good. However, there are many situations where orthodontic treatment becomes indispensable during actual treatment. For example, if a patient has already lost a tooth, the teeth will move rapidly in relation to the missing tooth, and the bite will be out of balance. In this case, simply replacing the missing teeth will result in a compromised bite because the treatment will have to be adapted to the missing teeth. If the teeth are not aligned properly, it is better to align the teeth in advance to reduce the risk in the future. Orthodontic treatment may seem expensive, but we believe that it is actually a cost-effective treatment that can help reduce future expenses.

Wire orthodontics (gum metal) and aligner orthodontics

At our clinic, we use two main methods of orthodontic treatment or a combination of both. We do not suggest one is better than the other, but rather suggest the best solution for each patient’s situation.
One of the advantages of wire braces (gum metal) is the length of treatment. The discomfort of wearing a brace is a disadvantage, but it allows the entire back teeth to be moved and, combined with the mechanics of the wire, can improve the crowding of the teeth in the early stages of treatment. Wisdom teeth extraction is required, but most cases can be completed within a year.

The advantages of aligner braces are cleanability and comfort. Under regular checkups at the dentist’s office, the teeth are aligned by changing the clear appliances yourself. Since the device can be removed, it is easy to clean, such as with a toothbrush. On the other hand, the effectiveness of the treatment depends on how often and to what extent the patient wears the device, so the results and duration of treatment can vary. We offer Invisalign, which is an outsourced system, and In-House Aligner, which uses digital equipment in our clinic, depending on the case.
